KETTLE VALLEY STEAM RAILWAY
Summerland, British Columbia
Experience the romance of a bygone era at the Kettle Valley Steam Railway in the beautiful and bountiful Okanagan Valley. Your 90 minute journey takes you along the only preserved section of the historic Kettle Valley Railway built during 1910 – 1915.
Our restored steam locomotive No. 3716 rolls through picturesque Prairie Valley dotted with orchards, vineyards and fields of green and then onto the Trout Creek Bridge with a stunning view of Okanagan Lake and the canyon below. Lively music and historical commentary complete your railway adventure.
We offer guests a regular run schedule with departures at 10:30 am & 1:30 pm – three days a week (Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays) from May to June; five days a week (Thursdays through Mondays) in July & August and then back to three days a week in September & October.
For a taste of the “Old West” join us for our most popular Special Event - the Great Train Robbery & BBQ on specified dates throughout the MAY TO OCTOBER season. Your heart will race as the notorious Garnett Valley Gang rides out of the hills to stop the train and rob passengers of their spare change for local charities. Following the ride you’ll enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner at Prairie Valley Station - and you won’t go away hungry! The menu includes barbecue beef & chicken, baked beans, salads and more. Reservations are a must for this fun-filled event.
Other special events include Easter, Mother’s Day, and Christmas. No matter what train you take, every trip on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway will be a memorable one for you and your family. Watch for our centennial celebrations in 2012 in honour of the 100th Birthday of our steam locomotive, newly christened “The Spirit of Summerland” Steam back in time and make today a trip into yesterday!
